The sightline in “Crossings” looks northward from the tower of the Fairmont Hotel on Nob Hill, looking out over pier 39 and the Aquarium of the Bay with its iconic blue roof. Coit tower is at the top of the hill to the right just out of the frame. Across the bay the San Raphael bridge is just out of the frame on the left. The distant shore pictured is Richmond, from the Chevron Long Wharf on the left, to Brickyard Cove on the right.
Beyond Richmond if you look carefully at the painting you can just make out a bit of San Pablo Bay, and then the mountains beyond to the north.
