Reclamation Project
Reclaimed artifacts taken from the land that used to be the White Hill Plantation in Orangeburgh, SC where his ancestors were enslaved. A shovel, a medicine bottle and a wood carving al representing different aspects of the existence in that space. The enslaver, Dr. Van de Vestine Jamison is represented in the bottle as he was a physician, the shovel represents the forced labor and work of the life as an enslaved human, and the carving represents their humanity, brain, desires and intellect.
